Darby Memorial and pump house

A Darby statue organizer said the city ignored the memorial's history when elevating the pump house, revealed the statue's site marks where a young Darby played music in 1925, and threatened to raise money to move the statue to Fort Benning if the city won't work with supporters.

A retired Army Ranger said the elevated pump house dwarfs and insults the Darby statue and urged the board to be respectful of what General Darby represents.

A recent arrival who attended Darby Days criticized the pump house work as careless and said the project would lose in the court of public opinion.
